LEARN TO SKATE

Snowplow Sam (Ages 3-6)

Learn to Skate sessions run for 6 weeks total with 5 weeks of lessons and a celebration of completion on the final day. All sessions run for 1 hour with 30 minutes of instruction and 30 minutes of open, unguided practice in a sectioned off area. Parents are welcome to join their kids on the ice for practice time. A class schedule will be sent out before the session begins detailing which 30-minute half your lesson is on. Depending on registration, some classes may be split in half or combined. Registration fee includes rental skates and your lessons. Helmets are required. Before you register, please look at the levels and ages to see which is the best fit.

Members: $90
Non-Members: $125

Please Note: Due to limited ice time, we do not offer makeup classes for missed days. Because of high demand for this program, we cannot hold spaces for currently enrolled participants in upcoming sessions. Registration tends to fill quickly, so please register in a timely manner.

Learn to Skate USA

The Y is associated with the Learn to Skate USA movement to make our skating programs more consistent and cohesive for all ages and levels. Learn to Skate USA provides a fun and positive experience for all skaters, inspiring a lifelong love of skating. With Learn to Skate USA, the Y will teach children and adults the fundamentals of ice skating while building confidence and providing a progressive curriculum that ensures success from the first steps on the ice to mastery of advanced skills. With this affiliation, we promote the health and fitness benefits of ice skating and equip each participant with the foundation necessary to reach their goal — be it recreation or competitive in nature.

Snowplow Sam (Ages 3-6)

The Snowplow Sam levels are introductory classes divided into four progressive levels allowing children with no prior skating experience to build confidence while learning the basics. These classes are designed to help children six and younger develop the ABCs of movement: agility, balance, coordination and speed. The ABCs are essential for developing fundamental movement skills and physical literacy.
